Here you will find anchor charts from our MATH mini lessons for GA Milestones Practice. Mini lessons were done each day during our Math NBI time.
Third grade students had a total of nine days in a computer lab practicing typing for the upcoming computer generated GA Milestones. Students logged on to typingclub.com and practiced, practiced, practiced. This week students really enjoyed learning about magnets!!! The exploration of magnets was THE BEST!! Students had the opportunity to observe magnets and see what metals are magnetic and what metals are not! Thank you to every parent who donated food or snacks for our BEAUTIFUL spring picnic!! We had wonderful weather and a few parents showed up to enjoy our picnic with us! A special thank you goes to our Room Mom (and Dad) for organizing our picnic and super fun relay races!! Students explored how to measure and estimate liquid volume! We used beakers and cylinders to measure liters and mililiters of water. This week we concluded our math study of Elapsed Time. Students learned how to calculate time passed from a start time to an end time and how to illustrate elapsed time from word problems.
This third nine weeks, after reading Mr. Popper's Penguins, students were presented with a grade level writing prompt related to the book. Students were given a passage from the book, then asked to give (and thoroughly explain) their opinion. Students were also asked to site details from the book's excerpt.
Today we were awarded a dance party for being one of Poole's winning classrooms for Attendance!! A huge thank you to our parents for getting students to school on time, every day! This week we concluded our Perimeter unit! Students learned that the Perimeter or a shape was the area AROUND the figure. This week we celebrated Dr. Seuss week!! Today on February 29, in honor of Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham students wore green!!
